Finding the Perfect Pumpkin

Last Friday our family went on our annual quest to find the perfect pumpkin. We usually go to a local pumpkin patch to buy pumpkins, but this year my mom's friend had a pumpkin patch right in her own back yard. She invited us over- okay, she invited the three kids over and the parents just tagged along, ha ha- and she let the kids wander through to find "the one."

Zack found his pumpkin right away. After Brian cut the vine and Zack lifted it up, we noticed it had two funny lines on the back side. Of course the joke was made that it must be the pumpkin's bum crack.

Dani looked around for a while, but eventually made a good choice. Russell also found his perfect pumpkin. He was very proud of himself for being able to carry it without any help.

Isn't she beautiful! What can I say? I'm a little prejudice!

Russell's hood is a bit big on him- it likes to come down over his eyes. He was being a ham since mom had the camera out.

Brian and I got a pumpkin also. Brian, as usual, was thrilled about having his picture taken. Dani got him to smile, though. =)

Well, once again I took the pictures and forgot to have someone snap one picture with me in it. But, we all had a really fun time. The plan is to grow our own little pumpkin patch next year. All three kids were excited to hear that. Brian and I are pretty excited, too. Now I'm looking forward to the night we get to carve the pumpkins. It's always messy and so much fun. I love to see the creative designs the kids choose and watch them crinkle their noses as they get the weird feeling of pumpkin guts oozing in their hands.

This was my first real blog entry. I even added pictures. I'm patting myself on the back right now for figuring it out on my own. Well, not literally because that would make it pretty hard to type, but you know what I mean.

Happy Halloween!
